Tokomaru

From Oar Own Correspondent. Miss M. Alltree, of Palmerston North, was the guest of Mrs W. Pope, during the week-end. Miss R. Proctor ,of Linton, was the guest of Mrs L. Peach, during the week-end. Mr R. Harvey, of Palmerston North, was a visitor to Tokomaru during the week-end. Mrs L. JamioSon and Miss C. Jamieson were visitors to Wellington during the week-end. Mrs H. Newbury has returned from Wellington, whore she has been spending a few days holiday. A euchre and dance was held in tho local hall on Friday last, the 14th. Quite a good attendance was recorded and a very enjoyable evening was spent by all. Bonner’s orchestra from Palmerston North supplied the music and Mr A. Williams ably controlled the floor. A euchre prizes were won by the following players:—Ladies first prize, Mrs K. Bayliss; men’s first prize, Mr R. Bayliss; ladies’ consolation prize, Miss J. Bree; men’s consolation prize, Mr J. Bennett. During tho evening-, Mr Osman made a presentation to Mr It,

Bennett, for the most improved player during the football soason. The trophy was very kindly donated by Mr J. Currin, Shannon. Mr and Mrs Crook, of Palmerston North, were visitors to Tokomaru during the weok-end. During tho week-end most welcome rain fell at intervals and rejoiced the hearts of all farmers, for the last few weeks spell-of fine weather had made the soil very dry and tho crops and pastures were showing the lack of moisture.

Miss Allen, of Blenheim, is the guest of Mrs A. Grady.
