Weddings

BLOCKLEY—BAIN. 1

On Wednesday evening All Saints’ Church was the scene of a quiet but pretty wedding when Elspeth Marion, eldest daughter of Mr. and .the late Mr. C. E. Bain, of Taihape, was united in marriage to Norman ; Keith, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Blockley, also of Taihape. The bride, who was given away by Mr. J. Freeman, uncle of the bridegroom, was charmingly attired in a frock of ivory crepe de chene and silver lace, her tule veil being embroidered in silver and finished with a coronet of orange blossoms. Silver shoes completed her toilette. She carried a bouquet of pale pink belladonnes and cream roses with maiden-hair fern. The bride was accompanied by two bridesmaids, Miss Janette Burling, of Auckland, chief bridesmaid, and Miss Rena Freeman, of Palmerston North. The former was dressed in shell pink crepe de fleur trimmed with coffee lace, and wpre a white crinloine hat, her bouquet being of pale pink and white orchids and maiden-hair fern, while the latter wore eau de nil crepe ramona with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of apricot orchids and maiden-hair fern. Rev. Neild officiated and Mr. Holmes-Runnicles presided at the organ. The bridegroom was assisted by his two cousins, Mr. R. Freeman as best man, and Mr. L. ■ Freeman as groomsman. The bridgegroom’s present to the bride was a fox fur and to the bridesmaids, a gold pendant set with aquamarines and a string of pearls respectively. After the ceremony a reception was held at Mrs. Dixon’s tearooms where Mrs. Bain, mother of the bride, received her guests wearing almond green satin with beige trimmings, hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of tinted blooms. Mrs. Blockley, mother of the bridegroom, wore grey silk morocain, with black bat and coat, ber bouquet being of tinted blooms. At the conclusion of the breakfast, the happy couple left by car for their honeymoon, taking with them the good wishes of those present. The bride’s travelling costume was of fawn with hat and shoes to match.
