WEDNESDAY CRICKET MATCHES CONTINUE

P.D.C. and Grocers Win

Tho mid-weclc cricket competition,, played under the ;jurisdiction of the Manawatu Cricket Association, was resumed yesterday at the Sportsgrouud, when two further games were completed. The wickets and outfields were in good condition, although the former were inclined to be somewhat bumpy. Weather conditions -were ideal, however, and some good play was witnessed. The outstanding batting performances were registered by three members of the P.D.C. eleven, Brace (128), Elliott (57) and Clayton (43) all retiring unbeaten. Rice, was the best of the trundlers, taking eight for 39 runs. Rosco Lose to P.D.C. Rosco batted first and the opening men made quite a stand, adding a hallcentury before tho wickets started to fall, Edyvean and George being the only other men to hold out and bring the tally to 163. P.D.C. then went to the crease for a record stand. With the fall of one of tho opening men's wickets, Elliott and Brace became acquainted and following their retirement, Clayton added another 43 before he followed the example. Mitchell and Gilmour were both unbeaten with the captain declaring with four down for 269. Details are as follow: — ROSCO. —First Innings.
