Sheffield Electors Asked For Vote of Confidence
LORD PONSONBY’S VACANT SEAT United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Monday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 3. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, in a message to tho electors for the Brigktside division of Sheffield, which is vacant through Mr. Arthur Ponsonby’s elevation to the peerage, claims that the Government has successfully pursued a policy commauding general . approval. It has upheld legitimate British interests but has taken every step to improve relations and strengthen the foundations, of an assured, well-organ-ised peace. At present, it was participating in a vital conference seeking to limit and reduce naval armaments. In this great task, it was essential that the Government should have tho backing of the British people. "We appeal to the electors of Brightside to encourage us with an unmistakable vote of confidence.”
