“The Broadway Melody”

GREAT TALKIE AT LEVIN. A show within a show is “The Broadway Melody,” the Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer all-talking, all-singing, alldancing picture, to bo shown next -Wednesday at the De Luxe Theatre, Levin, on the Western Electric sound system, for a completo musical comedy is enacted in the story, which is very dramatic in its unfolding, taking one into the private life of the tireless entertainers of Broadway. Anita Page, Bessie Love and Charles King are seen in the featured roles of the production, which is interspersed throughout with a specially written musical score. A sixty-girl chorus is seen in a specialty number filmed in technicolour with gay and catchy musical accompaniment. Also, one sees all the other acts of a typical Broadway revue, with highly trained dancers, singers and comedians taking part. Harry Beaumont, tho director who made such a hit with “Our Dancing Daughters,” is the director of. this production. He has injected, aside from its humour and drama, an appealing romance and just enough heartache to make it real. A special will run from Palmerston North next Wednesday evening. Reserved seats and railway tickets may be booked at Oates’s Music Depot.
