Children Watch Boy Drown at Hamilton

ALARM RAISED TOO LATE. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Last Night. A fourteen-year-old half caste boy, Rangi Gannon, residing with his uncle at. Pollock settlement, Auckland, drowned in Hamilton lake this afternoon. Deceased jumped off the diving platform out of his depth. Several children nearby noticed him jump in but did not raise tho alarm until deceased had been under water for several minutes. William Lane, who was asleep in a car in the Domain grounds, attracted by the cries of the children, hurried to the spot, jumped in and pulled the boy out on to the bank. Gannon could not swim. Resuscitation methods were tried unsuccessfully for over two hours.
