The metropoiitau market to-day was a “double” uuo and there were practically double tho normal entries in tlic major sections of the sale. Beef pna s showed a further easing and mutton recorded a decided decline.

Store sheep had a considerably larger entry than last week, including a smaller proportion of shorn sheep. Tho market was firm, with no quotablo change in values, which were: Extra good threequartor-bred ewo hoggets, 32/- to 30/-; good, to 31/3; medium half bred ewe hoggets, to 20/2; good halfbred wether hoggets, 22/- to 23/-; extra good threcquarter-brod wctlicr hoggctß, to 20/0; good, to 20/0; medium, to 19/-; backward m.s. halfbred hoggets, to If/-; good s.m. half bred owes, with lambs, to 18/0; backward halfbred owes, with lambs, 10/9 to 13/0; shorn halfbred ewes, with lambs, to 10/0; sound-mouthed crossbred ewes, with lambs, 10/- to 17/-; good shorn twodooth halfbrod owes, to 23/3; nged shorn halfbred ewes, to 12/3; good halfbred wethers, to 27/6; medium shorn halfbred wethers, to 19/-; good shorn crossbred wethers, to 24/9. There was a yarding of 922 spring lambs of mixed quality, prices ranging from up to last week’s values to down 3/- a head for the lighter sorts. Tho top price was 34/7. Fat cattle had an entry of 695 head of good quality. Tho markot was easier for all classes, with an averago decline, over an irrogular sale, of from 15/- to 30/-. Medium weight prime st-cci and light weight hoifef beef made from 46/- to 48/- per 100 lbs., and occasional pens slightly more. Medium woight prime bocf realised 42/6 to 45/-; heavy, 40/- to 43/6; good cow, 41/- to 44/-; secondary, 36/- to 39/-; rough, down to 33/-. Extra prime heavy steers fetched £22 12/6; hoavy prime steers, £lB to £2l; medium weight prime steers, £l7 to £l3 10/-; ordinary, £l3 10/- to £l6 10/-; light, £ll to £l3; oxtra prime heifers, to £lB 2/6; prime, £l4 10/- to £l6 5/-; ordinary, £l2 15/- to £l4 5/-; light, £8 10/- to £l2; extra prime cows, to £lB 17/6; prime, £l4 to £ls 15/-; medium, £l2 to £l3 15/-; light and aged, £7 10/- to £ll. 10/-. Fat sheep had a yarding of 7500 head. The market showed a big decrease for woolly sheep. Wethers were down 2/- to 3/- a head on last week and ewes 3/- to 4/-. The best shorn sheep practicaly maintained late Tates, but lighter sorts dropped by 1/6 to 2/- ahead. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 41/-; prime hoavy, 37/to 40/-; medium woight prime, 32/- to 36/-; ordinary, 28/- to 31/6; light, 26/- to 27/6; best shorn, to 34/10; medium shorn, 27/- to 31/6; light shorn, 23/G to 26/-; extra prime heavy ewes, to 36/10; prime heavy, 31/- to 34/-; primo, 28/- to 30/-; ordinary, 23/- to 27/-; light and aged, 20/6 to 22/6; best shorn ewes, to 32/10; prime shorn, 23/- to 27/-; ordinary, 20/6 to 22/6. Vealors did not have a big entry and the quality was poor. The demand was keen and values were: Best 12 to 18 months, to £lO 3/6; good vealers, £6 to £7 10/-; best calves, to £3; others, 14/- to 30/-. Store cattle met with a satisfactory sale, though prices eased slightly. Two and three-year steers sold at £lO 2/6 to £l2 10/6, other sorts ranging from

Tho dairy cattle entry of 60 head was of average quality. Prices wore the same as for last weok. Values were: Extra prime second and third calvers, to £ls; best socond and third calvors, £ll to £l3; others, £4 15/- to £10; best heifers, £9 10/- to £11; others, £6 to £9. Eat pigs had a heavy entry and met with a keen demand. Porkers dropped a little, but baconers wero Armor. Values were: Choppers, £3 to £8 13/6; baconors, £3 15/- to £5 8/6 (averago price per lb. 7sd. to Sid.) j porkers, 42/- to 68/6 (avorage price per lb. 74d. to Bid.). Storo pigs had a medium yarding and prices were well up to late Tates for large sorts and good weaners. Medium woaners were slightly easier. Values Largo stores, 43/- to 49/6; others, 29/6 to 42/6; slips, 26/to 29/-; medium weaners, 20/- to 24/6.
