Senior Sudden Death Competition

PINAL ON SATURDAY,

Last Saturday saw the second round of the senior sudden death competition completed and there now remains only the final to be played between the Palmerston' North clubs—Old -Boys and Kia Toa. Feilding Old Boys was unable to field a team and Athotic was narrowly defeated by Feilding in the first round. Kia Toa had an easy, victory over Woodvillc, in both teams first game, and Old Boys secured a lucky win over Feilding, the 1928 holder of the Goldfinch and Cousins Cup. Enthusiasts who were keen to see the rival Palmerston North clubs meet in the last round of the Senior competition and were disappointed when the championship was closed without this game eventuating, will now have an opportunity of seeing them in the final game of the knock-out. Old Boys took the Hankins Shield this season from Kia Toa and the double blues will no doubt try to make amends by securing the Goldfinch and Cousins Cup. The Old Boys team-has been putting more devil into its play this season and has in consequence, been more successful. Kia Toa has had a season of ups and downs, one game showing good form and the next match going under to an inferior side. There is no doubt, however, that a very willing match will be the outcome when the double blues and black colours meet in the final on Saturday.- •
