Insufficient Notice to Rugby Selectors
DUNEDIN PROTEST. Per Press Association.: DUNEDIN, Laat Night. At a meeting of the Rugby Union tho secretary reported tha<t he had received a circular from the New Zealand Union on Friday, inviting; nominations for the South Island team, and stating that these mnst be in the hands of the union by 5 p.m. to-morrow. Mr McDonald, one of the New Zealand selectors, said that this was fte fiTst he had heard of nominations being invited. Members took exception to the shortness of the notice, one remarking: “There is something wrong. These teams are to be the foundation of the New Zealand team next year, and it is not fair treatment to football 1 in the South if we accept this without pointing out that sufficient notice has not been given. We are not doing our duty as legislators.’’ A motion was carried protesting against tihe action of the New Zealand Union in not giving sufficient notice.
