From Out Own Correspondent; Personal. The appointment of Miss E. M. !Wakelin to the position of domestic science instructress at the Dannevirke District High School is announced. Mr. Vo well, of the head office of the staff of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, LtcU, has taken up his duties as district manager for Dannevirke, vice Mr. C. F. Goodreds, accountant-secretary, who has resigned. Boss Shield Semi-finaL There was a good attendance at Bugby park on Saturday afternoon to witness the match between Central and Southern Hawke’s Bay primary schools’ teams, the final scores being Central 7, Southern 3. Mr. H. Drinkwater was referee. Bifie Club’s Competition. G. Monghan was the winner of the third month’s trophy competition in the men’s division, the Mayor (Mr. Marcus D. Smith) making the presentation. Miss Patterson came first in the ladies’ division, with Miss Watson second. _ Mounted Rifles' Bali There was an excellent attendance at the Mounted Bifles’ ball held in the Drill hall on Friday night, Mr. F. O. Devlin being responsible for the decorations. The ladies' committee, which consisted of Mesdames H. Frederioksen, Euby, Tetley, Holworthy, Prenter, Yortt, and Jonathan Hcdden, Misses E. Quigley, Mclntosh, Pinckney, N. Chadwick and Tetley, is worthy of praise for the excellent work accomplished in making the evening a success. Sergt.Major Perrett, assisted by Messrs. H. Kitt, Lester, Breakwell and L. James were the MX! ’s. The supper was much enjoyed. Trespass Charges. George E. Bould, builder, C. E. 0. Otter, labourer, and Biehard P. Walters, apprentice, all of Takapau, appeared before the Magistrate (Mr. A. M. Mowlem) at Waipukurau on Friday last to face charges of trespassing on the property of E. S. Janett, of Marakeke, in search of native game on May 8 last. Constable B. Phillips, of Takapau, gave details of the ease, after which •his Worship fined Walters and Bould SI, plus costs 13s 9d, Otter being Bonvicted and fined £2, costs 13s 9d on the trespass charge and £5 with costs 13s, on the charge of shooting native game. Mr. Harker, who appeared for the iccused, asked for a period of 28 days in which to find the money and this was granted.
