Gradual Improvement
An intense depression still extends from New Zealand to beyond the Chatham Island. The anti-cyclone over Australia is moving on to the Western Tasman Sea. Expect strong southwesterly winds of gale force at exposed places but gradually decreasing. The seas in New Zealand waters will be heavy on the West Coast and elsewhere rough, but decreasing southwest winds in the Eastern Tasman, with rough seas. The weather will be squallv and changeable, with further .showers in most districts and snow in parts of the South Island. Cold temperatures, but improving gradually in the western districts.
