FAREWELL AFTERNOON. From Our Own Correspondent. On Tuesday afternoon a very pleasant “farewell tea” was given at her home “Palni Grove” by Miss Kathleen Miles for Miss Lilian Marshall in view of the latter’s departure from the district. A novel, competition provided much entertainment and was won by the guest of honour. A dainty afternoon tea was appreciated, following which Miss Miles, on behalf of those present, asked Miss Marshall to accept a charming manicure set in remembrance of her Stanway friends. Miss Miles received her guests wearing a pretty frilled frock of spotted green silk whilo Miss Marshall_ was attired in a smart rose beigo jumper suit. Those present were the Misses M. Jefferies, M. Guy, N. and K. Green, M. Howell, M. Groves, J. and T. Marshal] and M. and F. Brew. Personal. Miss Lilian Marshall left Stanway onWednesday for Otaki where she will spend somo time with her aunt, Miss Miles. Mr. Bob Nicholson (late of Stanway) Whareroa, Hawera, is spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. T. Jefferies. Mr. Terry Bailey will spend the weekend at Sanson as the guest sf Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Drew. Final Mangel Inspection,

On Monday Mr. Lang (agricultural inspector for the Wanganui Education board) paid a final visit of inspection to the local children’s mangel plots. Mr. Laing was accompanied by Mr. Enos Christian (chairman of the school committee) and Mr. A. L. Dcrmci (member of committeo).
