MAYOR INSPECTS TORNADO DAMAGE
NO CASES OF ACTUAL NECESSITY UNDER NOTICE Tho Mayor (Air. A. J. Graham) with the borough engineer (Mr. J. R. Hughes) yesterday afternoon visited the various properties damaged by Monday’s tornado. In conversation with a reporter after his visit, Mr. Graham commented upon the philosophic spirit in which the majority of those affected were accepting the position. While some hardship tad been caused in many instances, he had not encountered any cases which could be classed as actually necessitous. He had informed owners and occupiers of damaged property that if they found themselves in an embarrassed position as a result of the tornado damage, they could apply to tho borough authorities for assistance. He would bring the question of relief under the notice of the council at its next meeting, when the position would bo fully discussed and adequate measures taken, if required; .
He had found that repair work was already under way in tho majority of tho damaged residences and from the estimates given him by householders, he did not think that the damage caused would be found to amount to isuch a large figure as was at first believed. >
