HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION
(To the Editor). Sir,—Councillor Mansford deserves the thanks of tho ratepayers of Palmerston North for tho frank and outspoken attitudo he adopted at the recent Hospital board meeting. Is the managing secretary such a sacrosanct personage that his administration can only be criticised behind closed doors? Aro the ratepayers not to be told whether or not there arc any acts of maladministration on his part? It is nearly time the hush-hush policy of the board was relegated to the past. Is it not true that the clerical staff has increased 300 per cent during tho past five years? How' does tho administration staff and the domestic staff compare in numbers say—with tho Wanganui hospital staff? If the other members of the board took the samo stand as Councillor Mansford tho ratepayers would be well satisfied. —I am, etc., JAMES AIILLIGAN. Palmerston North, June 26.
