Farewell to Mr. B. Scott,
A very large attendance was present at the occasion of the bidding farewell to Mr. D. Scott, who is leaving for Reef ton. Mr. C. IV. Liggins, on behalf of the gathering, presented Air. Scott with a handsomo fountain pen. The speaker stated that although of late Mr. Scott’s duties as a school teacher had been in Foxton, the local people saw a good deal of him, as ho was a foremost player in the local football team. Mr. Scott had started at Carnarvon and by winning a scholarship had worked his way to tho Boys’ High school, where, after a few years, he was dux and captain of tho first fifteen. AH. Liggins apologised for the unavoidable absence of Air. Goldfinch snr. and Air. Hughes also for Air. G. Goldfinch junr., captain of tho local football team. Air. Scott suitably responded. Following was tho musical programme:—Pianoforte duct, Misses A. Burgess and A. Trenkner; recitation, Miss Jill Bower; song, Airs. M. C. Amadio. The music was supplied by Berryman’s Afajestic radio, while the extras were supplied by Miss Harvey and Airs. AI. C. Amadio. A very pleasant function was brought to a close by the singing of "Auld Lang Sync" and "For He’s a Jolly Good Fcilowx”
Football Teams. The following will represent Rongotea seniors to play against Oroua Downs at Oroua Downs on Saturday: Gust (o), G. Goldfinch, Scott (2), E. Algar, Peterson, H. Howell, J. Walsh, A. Sanson, Evans, K. Vile, Whiteman, S. Amadio and H. Fuller. Juniors will be picked from the following to play Oroua Downs at Rongotea: D. Thompson, Gust (2), Knight, D. Saunders, H. Duller, Dixon (2), Wilson, Mudford, S. Gould, Burnc (2), C. Donovan and R. Wright. Thirds to play Sanson A at Sanson: J. Major, H. Eades, J. Liggins, A. Pedlcy, G. Frccklington, L. Craig, Gloyn (2), R. Gust, Martin, Saxon, Poupard, Evans, Ritchficld, Hughes and Wright. Hockey. The local hockey team defeated High School Old Girls on Wednesday by 5 points to -4. The scorers for the home team were L. Davis and A. Sexton. The teams were in very good trim and played splendidly with the exception of two of tho local players who were not quite up to form.
