The Times New York correspondent states that the Standard Oil company has begun the construction near New Jersey of the first commercial plant in the United States for the hydrogenation of petroleum under a process for which the American rights were obtained from tho German Dye Trust. The decision to erect a plant has., followed two years’ successful experiments, by which 100. per centum of petrol is recoverable from crude oil, compared with 35 to 45 per cent through the" most modern ’crashing process” now available. It is indicated the Standard Oil company regards the process as assured of econo mic success and that it may Tevolu tionise oil production methods.
