COMBINED UNION MEETING
MANAWHENUA COMMITTEE. A meeting of representatives of tho combined unions was held at Shannon on Saturday evening at the conclusion of the representative fixture. Mr. J. A. Colquhoun (president) was in the chair. Messrs Hannan, Proctor, Richards, Ryan, Winiata, Ongley, Hardic, Crawford, Mitchell, Robinson, Hands and C. D. Fraser (secretary) were also present. The New Zealand Rugby Union wrote about the policy of the wing forward, requesting that referees’ attention be drawn to this rule, also seeking information regarding facilities for the British tour and programmes. The secretary was asked to supply the information. A list of five referees for interprovincial matches was forwarded, the nominees being Messrs O ’Connor. Parata, Broughton, Skoglund and Bevan.
The Now Zealand Rugby Union also sought information regarding the amount of gate percentages required by tlic union.—lt was decided to ask for 20 per cent of the gross gate.. The Horowhenua Rugby District council notified that Messrs Winiata and Ryan had been appointed senior* selectors.
It was decided to allow the same cost of assembling teams as last year.. The following matches were arranged:—
Wairarapa: July 37 at Palmerston North, August 17, at Masterton. Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union’s request that the date of its match be altered from August 24 to August 31 was granted. A request from the North Auckland Rugby Union for a game next season met with the reply that it was too early to fix the itinerary yet. The Wellington Rugby Football Union wrote confirming September 24 as the date of the Manawhcnua match at Wellington. An offer of junior representative match at Levin cither on August 17 of August 31 was forwarded The Marlborough Rugby Football Union requested a date for a visit to Nelson, Blenheim and Golden Bay. —It ■was decided to apply to the New Zealand Rugby Union for a grant in favour of tho tour.
The Wanganui Rugby Football Union j oquested a date for a junior representative match at Wanganui.—The union to ask for August 24, the seniors to play at Levin on September 7. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Julv 30 in Palmerston North.
