President Gil has announced tho settlement of tho controversy between tho Roman Catholic Church and Mexico on tho following basis:— That tho Mexican government allows tho Catholic Heirarchy to designate priests to register in compliance with Mexican laws; secondly,_ religious instruction is not permitted m . the schools but will bo permitted within the churches; thirdly, tho right is reserved to Catholic prelates to apply for modification of tho constitution at any time in tho future, which same right is granted to all other Mexican citizens.
