CONCERT RAISES £l7 FOR UNEMPLOYED FUND

TALENTED WANGANUI CHILDREN PERFORM. The Opera house held a large audience last evening, when another concert in aid of the unemployed fund was staged. The receipts amounted to £l7 Ss, (including no fewer than 250 threepenny pieces), wliilo one doorkeeper recorded the admission of five persons for fourpenco! , . A splendid programme was presented, the star performers being the talented Bridges children, of Wanganui, who were required to respond to repeated recalls. , . , Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., chairman of the Unemployment committee returned thanks to the performers, to the accompanist (Mrs. W. 11. K. Gilmour), commercial travellers who had charge of the door collections, Mr. E. Jackson for free use of the Opera house and Mr. A. J. Berryman for the use ot piano. He also announced that another concert in aid of the same cause would bo held next Sunday night. The programme last night was as follows: —Song, “Castillian Lament,” Mr G. S. Remington; selection, “Watchman, What of the Night.” Orpheus Society; song, selected, Miss R. Mann; trio, (violin, zylophono and piano), “Zanifa” Master'Claude and the Misses Francis and Nancy Bridges; selection, “Village Blacksmith” Orpheus Society; song, “Spring’s Awakening,” Mrs. J. Wright; trio, “Home, Sweet Home,” with variations, The Bridges Trio; song, “For the Green, Mr. E. G. Seeker; recitation, Master Billie Shannon; violin solo, Mr. L. Findlay; accompanist, Mrs. W. H. Gilmour.
