SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS,
From Our Own Correspondent. The Woodville branch of the South African War Veterans association, held their annual reunion in the Forresters hall on Friday evening, Captain G. W, Wardrop presiding. Amongst those present were the president (Mr. L. T. Herbert) and representatives of the Pahiatua branch, also the president of the Eketahuna branch and veterans of that district.
Captain Wardrop extended a hearty welcome to all. During the course of j the evening Mr. L. Skinner suggested j that a list of the names of those present be recorded. This was acted upon and the following is the roll, with regii luents: —A. J. Arlidgc, Q. 1.8.; G. Garrv, j stli N.Z.M.K.; E. Richards, 10th; L. Skinner, Bth; L. Scorer, 9th; E. Pritchard, sth; J. Bth; F. Sexton, -Ith Rough Eiders; E. Brabant, 9th; T. P. Edge, Sharp-Shooters, J. McCormick, Sth N.Z.M.E. During the evening the followingtoasts were honoured: —“The King,” ‘‘The South African Veterans,” “The Visitors,” “Woodville Members” ami “Local Bodies.”
| The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” I brought a very pleasant fvnotion to n iclose. Personal. Miss Martin, of Woodville, has been appointed to the stall of the Mangatainoka school. Miss J. N. Wilkinson, assistant teacher at the Woodville District High School, has resigned from her position. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Prit-chard, Wanganui, have been on a visit to Woodville. Mrs. J. O’Neil, Hopelands, is on a visit to Stratford.
