MAN USES 38 YEARS TO HANDWRITE BOOK

LONDON LAMPLIGHTER DOES WORK IN SPARE TIME

LONDON. A Book of Common Prayer, beautifully written from cover to cover iti Old English by a lamplighter who gave his spare hours of US years to this labour, has been found in a London bookstall. Thomas Ford, in tile early part of lust century, could not iind a Book of Common Prayed printed iu Old English, so he set out to write one. He began writing on the day of Queen Victoria's accession, June, 1837, and provided the book with a coloured frontispieeo and a prayer. A marvel of penmanship, it was finished on May 3, 1875. At the end of the volume he inscribed a prayer on the completion of liis task, and also a word of warning lo anyone who spoke disparagingly of it.
