GIFT EVENING

A pleasant evening was spent on Wednesday last, at Oroua Downs, the occasion being a gift evening in aid of All Saints’ Beach Home, Foxton. There was a splendid collection of gifts and the Rev. W. H. Walton, thanked the people on behalf of the church. Mrs. Bain, Matron of the Home, also spoke of the great help the people of Oroua Downs gave regularly to the Home. Mr. Bailey and Mr. J. Conlan won the prize in tho men’s shooting and Mrs. H. Shailcr the ladies’. The box of chocolates was won by Mr. IN. Funnell, who generously presented them to the matron. The prizes were donated by Mesdames Funnell, Beerling, Duffin, Dench and Nichols.
