DONOVAN HAS CLOSE FIGHT IN TARANAKI.
GETS POINTS DECISION.
Per Press Association. NEAV PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Tommy Donovan (Waitara) defeated J. Leslie (Auckland) on points in a ten rounds professional bout on Saturday night. It was a stirring fight and the first occasion on which Donovan has been extended, all his other professional fights having been won by knockouts in the early stages. J. Crowley (Wellington) was given a points decision against R. Midgelcy (Taranaki) in another professional ten rounds but the verdict was not popular.
