The Horsewood sub-brancli of the Southern Hawke’s Bay provincial branches of the Hew Zealand Farmers’ Union held a root-growing competition this year, the results of which are as follow: Mangolds: J. R. Thompson (Horsewood), 119 points, 1; K. R. Gunderson (Horsewood), 1121 points, 2; TV. Jenkins (Horsewood), 105 points, 3. Seven entries. Swedes: E. Smith (Makotuku), 631 points, .1; H. T. At a meeting of the dairy suppliers of the Horsewooddistrict to be held in the Reading Room to-night at 7.30 Mr Elphick, of the staff of the Massey Agricultural College will give a demonstration on the feeding and care of stock. Dairy Control Board. Mr TV. J. lorns, chairman of the Dairy Control Board, will deliver an address on the year’s work on Tuesday evening, at 7.30, in the hall at South Horsewood.
