TRUNK RAILROADS TO COST £7,500,000
Prime Minister at Blenheim AGGREGATE AREA IS NEARLY 7000 ACRES MINISTER’S ANNOUNCEMENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Minister of Lands (Hon. G. W. Forbes) announces that the following purchases of land have just been completed:— Rosebery estate, Oamaru, owned by Gilchrist Bros., comprising 2100 acres of high-class land suitable for dairying or mixed farming. It is anticipated the area will provide seven or eight good farms, with areas ranging from 230 to 350 acres. Another portion of the same estate, owned by the Misses Gilchrist, comprising 1.000 acres, should provide six good farms. Brookdalc homestead block, near Tapanui, Otago, owned by Mr. George Stuart, comprising 1910 acres suitable for mixed farming or dairying. The property should divide into seven or eight good farms. Portion of tbo Scotson estate, near St. Andrews, owned by Mr. \V, E. Mills, of 483 acres, the purchase of which has been arranged under the group settlement legislation of 1028. Two farms of 228 and 200 acres respectively. The land is of excellent quality and the applicants have been approved as suitable settlers.
