MOTOR CARS COLLIDE IN CHURCH STREET

NO ONE INJURED.

At 2.30 yesterday afternoon, a large taxi driven by Mr. Lawrence Henry Walkley, was involved in a collision at the intersection of Princess and Church streets with a light four-seater car, the property of Mr. Win. Gust, of Rongotca, driven by Mr. Ambrose Charles Hurdsfield, of Rongotea. The taxi was being driven m the direction of town while the other vehicle was crossing the intersection from the direction of the railway line. Mhcn both cars were in tho centre of the intersection, the' drivers learnt of each other’s presence. Mr. Walkley swung his car to the left, whilo Mr. I-lurdsfield swung to the right, with the result that the vehicles came together broadside on, causing considerable damage.

Mr. Walkley, who was unaccompanied, was unhurt and later drove his car away. The lighter motor was more seriously injured and had to bo removed by a salvage wagon. Mr. Hurdsfielcl had threo women in his car, one of whom suffered slightly from shock.

Bus and Lorry on Boundary Road At 12.15 p.m. on Saturday, a collision occurred at the corner of Boundary road and Milson’s line between a passenger bus plying between Palmerston North and Peilding and a cream delivery lorry. The bus was coming outof Milson’s line on to Boundary road and tho lorry was swinging into Mil son’s line when the impact, took place. The bus was struck behind the driver’s seat by the front of the lorry, which suffered more. The bus was able to continue its journey, while the lorry had to await assistance. Further Accident At 5.30 last evening two cars were piled up on the Mangaono bridge in Bangitikci line. At a late hour last evening tho matter had not been reported to the police.
