JOY RIDING IN THE AIR

TWO LICENSES SUSPENDED Two members have been expelled from tho Sydney Aero club for low flying, and disciplinary action has been taken against others by suspending them for terms of three and six months. Tho club’s motto is: “The higher you aro tho safer you are,’’ and as there have been so many complaints of reckless joy riding over suburbs at weekends, tho club committee says it is determined to take rigorous action against any others who flout its orders. The regulations provide that no aeroplane shall fly over Sydney, except at a height that would enable it, in the event of engine trouble, to volplane down and land without the aid of its engine at Mascot. This is somewhat stricter than the most careful person would demand, for it means that an aeroplane flying over, say, Manly or Narrabean, could not corne down below 2000 ft. The attitude of the Aero club is greatly appreciated by the public. Just as there arc careless motorists, so there might bo careless young airman, and the best thing to do is to nip their joy riding in the bud.
