RAILWAY DEFICIT IN N.S.W.
LOSS OF A MILLION. United Press Association—By Electri# Telegraph—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 11.57 p.m. SYDNEY, May 15. Severe retrenchment on the railways is expected shortly owing to industrial turmoil, chiefly the coal crisis and dimished freights through motor competition. Treasurer Stevens to-day announced he had budgeted for a email surplus on the. railways but now expected a million deficit which would have to bo met in some manner.
