SIR J. G. WILSON BORNE TO REST ON FARM WAGON

IMPRESSIVE SIMPLICITY.

Beloved by all with whom ho came in contact in life, the mortal remains of tho late Sir James G. Wilson were conveyed to their last resting place yesterday with ceremony impressive in its simplicity. A very lengthy cortege assembled yesterday afternoon to follow the coffin from tho dccc-ased’s residence to the Bulls cemetery. In accordance with Sir James’ wishes the casket was borne on a horse-drawn farm wagon, strewn with fern. Horses had taken the pioneer to his then new homo away back in 1874 and in expectation of death, Sir James was mindful of this association.

Tho Rev. A. F. Stewart, Minister of the Bulls Presbyterian Church, conducted a short service at the residence and performed the last rites at the graveside. Bodies represented at tho funeral rvere: Tho Board of Agricultural, Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North Hospital Board, Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, Manawatu County, Wanganui-Rangitikei Power Board, Cawthron Institute, Royal Agricultural Society and the Dominion Farmers Institute, with all of whicn the lato gentleman was associated during his life.
