It is understood the Government intends to issue a manifesto next week dealing with improved educational facilities. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, speaking at Port Talbot, said the now Government of whatever colour would enter upon its inheritance more bankrupt than any Government in Britain ever faced. “It is going to be no easy task. The great problem will be the reconditioning of the country.” Mr. Vernon Hartshorn, speaking at Macsteg, predicted that if a Labour Government were not returned thero would be a great crisis in the coal trade at the end of the year when the existing agreements expire. The Conservatives have decided in view of Sir John Simon’s attacks upon the Government and his active support of Mr. Lloyd George to contest his seat which previously they intended not to contest in view of Sir John Simon’s services in India.
