STEAMER PURCHASED FOR FOXTON TRADE
TO COMMENCE IN JUNE. • « ————. According to advice received on Wednesday by Messrs C. F. Millwnrd and Co., Wanganui agents for the Canterbury Steamship Company, Foxton is to have the benefit of an up-to-date shipping service very shortly. The Canterbury company has completed the purchase of a Deisel engined, twin-screw, motor vessel at present being built in Auckland and will place this vessel upon a Lyttelton-Foxton service.
It is proposed to commence running the new vessel in June. She has a speed of 94 —10 knots and a carrying capacity of 330—350 tons, with an extremely shallow draught which will enable her to negotiate Foxton harbour at any tide.
