CATTLE FAIR

W.P.C.A. AUTUMN SALE AT PAHIATUA. The W.P.C.A. reports on its annual Pahiatua autumn cattle fair as follows: —Tho entry came in up to advertised numbers, 737 head being yarded and with tho exception of two small pens of dairy weaners, the whole was sold under the hammer. There was a keen demand for all classes of station cattle, which met a spirited market at an advance of £1 to £1 10s per head. As is usual at this sale, vendors met the market and a good sale was the result. Cattle came forward in very good condition. Some very good lines of forward bullocks and fat cows being yarded. Messrs Murphy Bros, topped "the market with a very nice line of 20 P.A. bullocks at £l2 6s. Mr. H. Dillon topped the market with a lino of 15 fat cows at £ll 3s. A particularly good line of P.A. weaner steers, sold on account of Mr. W. H. Morrison,, made the satisfactory figure of £G ss. Buyers wore present from Manawatu, Pongoroa, Hawke’s Bay and local districts, purchasers being evenly distributed. We quote:— A/c. Murphy Bros., 20 P.A. bullocks £l2 6s; A. J. Patchett, 22 at £ll 15s; P. McYerry, 21 at £ll 17s 6d; Turner Est., 9 at £ll ss; Crccklcy Est., 11 at £ll 4s; others, £lO 10s, £lO 7s 6d to £ll 17s Cd. Threcryear steers, a/c. J. H. George, 20 at £0 ss; others £9 10s to £lO. Two and a-half year steers: T. H. Yerry, 11 at £9 13s 6d. One and a-half to two and a-half year steers: M. A, Priest and Co., 21 at £9 10s; T. H. Yerry, 20 at £9; T. C'hcckley, 19 at £9 Is; J. Olsen, 20 at £S 17s; G. H. George, 23 at £8 13s; weaner steers, W. 11. Morrison, 42 P.A. £6 ss; E. H. Rodney 18 m.s. P.A. weaners £5 7s Od; A. J. Perry, 35 m.s. PA. weaners £4 13s; W. H. Morrison, 14 at £4 ss; J. Breeds, 15 Hereford cows in calf £9 4s; Geo. Russell, 12 at £9 2s Gd; fat cows, H. Dillon, 15 at £ll 3s; Murphy Bros., eight at £9 15s; Cheekley Est., five at £lO lSs; others, £B, £lO, £lO 5s to £lO 7s. Fat dairy cows, £4, £4 Ss, £5, £5 10s, £6 to £6 3s 6d.
