Linton
I From Our Own Correspondent. \ A meeting of the committee of the Linton Sports Club was held in the hall on Thursday evening, Mr T. Lynch occupying the chair to a fair attendance of members. Matters in connection with Sports Day were reviewed at length. The secretary reported on the financial position which was slightly better than last year’s returns, although the meeting sustained a slight loss. The committee recommends to next year’s committee that Sports Day be changed and the prizes curtaTloS slightly. Three cups were won outright, namely the Hunters,’ the Driving and the three mile‘cycle. A protest was lodged in the three-mile, cycle, and although it was dismissed the committee understands it would be taken further and accordingly decided to ■withhold trophies until something definite came to hand. Mr. Geo. Allright was thanked for his donation to club’s funds. The secretary received thanks for his services and was voted an honorarium. The following resignations from the club were accepted: Messrs. C. Tukor, K. Greer, S. Sames, C. Kennard and E. Sharp. At a meeting of the Tennis Club on Tuesday it was decided to send a team consisting of four ladies and four gentlemen to Whakarongo. Mr Lash was appointed solo selector.
