There was a sensational opening of England’s innings. Halcombe, a local fast bowler, who incapacitated Geary in the last Westraldan match, caught Tate on the fleshy part, of the leg with his third ball and Tato was assisted off the ground. Tyldeslcy who escaped Halcombe, scoring a single, placed his next ball for an easy catch to Horroeks. Mead and Hammond gave a vigorous display of free hitting.
