Niagara loft Suva for Auckland at 1 p.m. yesterday. Maunganui left Sydney for Auckland at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon and Marama an hour later for Wellington. Thwigg, who was formerly house surgeon at Palmerston North hospital and who underwent an operation for appendicitis recently, which incapacitated him for two months, is convalescing in Palmerston I'JotfTß. With regard to the glare reported off Ivapiti on Thursday evening, inquiries show that three launches that went out from Island Bay are safe. All the coastal vessels that were anywhere in the vicinity have been accounted for. A possible explanation is that the light came from Futurist, which was trawling in the stait at the time. The choir of St. Peter’s Church, Terrace End, will sing the cantata “Olivet to Calvary’’ at the evening service at 7 o'clock to-morrow. The solos will bo taken by Mrs H. L. McGregor, Miss Edith Coles and Messrs A. It. McKegg and A. ltobotham. Mr. H. S. Portoous will bo at the organ, and the congregation arc invited to join in the singing of hymns before the service.
