Major G. G. Hancox lias been appointed to the command of the 3rd. C Battalion of the Wellington-West Coast Regiment. Messrs. J. A. Nash, M.P.. and M. A. Conwav were elected yesterday as the Manawatu A. and P. Association delegates to the Koval Agricultural Society. Members of the St. Patrick’s Rugby Football club at their annual meeting last evening, stood for a moment in silence as a mark of sympathy with the reltives of the late Mr 11. W. Brown. LMr G. A. Hart, Wellington City Engineer sustained a lacerated wound on the face as a result of a motor accident last night. He was cut by flying glass when his car collided with a stationary one. The Mavor (Mr. A. J. Graham), Messrs. L.” Wall, J. A. Nash, M.P., D. Collis, M. A. Eliott and W. J. Blundell (Wellington) were re elected vice-presi-dents ot' the Manawatu A. and P. Association at yesterday’s meeting of the committee. Reference to the deaths of Messrs. John Bctt, J. Aiken, E. R. Whallcv and A. McEwen, was made by the Manawatu A. and P. Association committee yesterday when motions of condolence with the relatives were passed, members standing in silence as a mark of respect. Mr W. R. Birnie was unanimously re-elected chairman of the High School Board of Governors at the annual meeting. In proposing _Mr Birnie for the position, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P. paid a warm tributo to the great work done by the chairman for secondary education and schools generally in Palmerston North.
