COLYTON
From Our Own Correspondent. The annual combined Waiata-Aratika -Presbyterian Church picnic was held in Mr. Hoeken’s grounds, Colyton, on Saturday. The weather was ideal, and a moro beautiful setting for a picnic ■would be hard to find. Needless to say, a very pleasant day was spent by children and adults alike. During tho afternoon, Messrs. J. Walker and R. AA r . Brown referred to the coming departure of Rev. E. Marshall, who has had charge of the circuit for the last threa years and who leaves shortly to take up duties in the South Island. The speakers expressed regret at losing one who, by his sterling qualities, untiring zeal and cheerful disposition, had won a place in the affections of all. Mr. Marshall, who was the recipient of a substantial cheque, suitably »jsl!bd, thanking the speakers and all those present for their many kindnesses. Viles, of Colyton,; have returned from a holiday spent in New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Burr and Miss Burr, of “Laudenburn,” Colyton, are spending a holiday in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. M. Parker, of Colyton, have'returned from a motor tour of Taranaki. The many friends of Mrs. Caldwell, who is well-known in tennis circles, will regret to hear that she is confined to bed suffering from a severe injury to the knee. The friends of Mrs. P. G. Neill, of Ridge road, Colyton, will be pleased to hear of her recovery from her recent illness and of her return home from a Eeilding private hospital. Mrs. and Misses J. and M. Peddie, of Hastings have returned to their home after a holiday spent as the guests of Mrs. Neill, of Colyton. The friends of Mrs. P. McKay, who has been an inmate of a private hospital in Feilding, will be pleased to hear of her return to her home ip Colyton. Mr. J. Edhouse, of Valley road, Colyton, is spending a holiday in Taupo.
