LINTON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB

J. McAvinue Champion H. BARLOW RUNNER-UP SINGLE POINT BEHIND The members of the the Linton Rifle elub comploted the championship series on Saturday, the winner of the day's shoot being K. Lumsden, with a score of 87. This member also secures the gold spoon for the fortnightly shoot with a score of 175/ J. McAvinue is the winner of the championship belt for the season with a score of 817 points, H. Barlow being runner-up with 816 points. McAvinue, who only commenced shooting last season, has done exceptionally well, having won the Tyro championship at the recent National Rifle Association meeting. H. Barlow has also’ done well finishing sixth in the belt series at the N.R.A. meeting. The Hawke's Bay Rifle meeting is being held on Easier Saturday and as a number of the members of the local club intend competing it is hoped there will be enough to form a team, as the shield for the teams match is well worth winning.
