THE DANGEROUS FLY
HOW TO DESTROY HIM,. Flies should be banished at all costs from the nursery*- and from the kitchen, where food is kept and .cooking is going on. According to a famous doctor; there would be little typhoid fever without the house fly, and little chanco of infantile cholera. One of the best solutions for attracting and killing flics is a diluted .mixture, of formaldehyde (40 per cent.) and water. Put two tablespoonfuls in equal parts of milk and water set about the room in plates. This is a most effiectual' poison provided there is no other food or water for them to feed on. A piece of bread placed in tho middle of each plate for the flies to alight on wili make the bait more attractive. Bichromate of potash is used sometimes for killing flies. It should be dissolved in water at the rato of one part potash .to . two parts water, - and should be set about the room in shallow dishes. If the room can be darkened with the exception of one window, and the solution placed on the ledge of the window in the light, quicker results will be obtained.
