The Foxton D.H.S. narrowly defeated the Rangiut team last year by 41 points to 38, and this year was again victorious by a somewhat larger margin. This is the third year in succession that tho local school has been tho runner-up in this competition. . The following runners represented the school. Girls: Vina Thompson, Myra Simmons, Kathleon Strawbridge, Rona Russell, Emily Lover and Patricia Cioad. Boys: Elden Donaldson, Douglas Donaldson, Harry Redshaw, Nerpia Larkins, Graham Beard, Hayden Walker, Winston Moore, Nui Larkins, and Charlie Gimblctt.

At the conclusion of the racing, Mr J. Linklater, M.P., presented the trophy to the winning team from Foxton D'.H. S., and congratulated the Rongotea team upon its meritorious performance. Mr Proctor ,replying on behalf of the winning team, added his meed of praise to the runners-up. In running the D.H.S. so closely, the country children had achieved a remarkable success, especially as many of them had to compete in several successive Taces. Drought Breaks. For weeks past the scorching sun and drying winds have played havoc with the milk supplies at tho local factories. The country has assumed a brown and parched appearance everywhere. For tho past week heavy threatening clouds have given promise of rain and at last on Monday morning welcome rain commenced which bids fair to refresh the thirsty countryside.
