WEEK-END EXCURSIONS

On .Sunday last, the Railway Department ran an excursion train to Palmerston North and back with fares at specially reduced rate, the return fare from Wellington to Palmerston North being only 5s second class and 7s first class, and tho fares between other stations en route correspondingly reduced. Needless to say, tho excursion train was very well patronised, over 700 passengers making tho trip and in view of the response the Sunday excursions will be continued until further advised. It has now been decided to give residents of Palmerston North and other Manawatu towns the opportunity of visiting Wellington, Paekakariki, Plimmerton and Paraparaumu, on Sunday next at similarly reduced fares. The excursion train will leave Palmerston North at 8.50 a.m. and on the return journey leaves Wellington a« 4.15 p.m. The return fares from Palmerston North to Wellington (first and second class) will be 7s and ss; to Packakariki 6s and 4s, and correspondingly reduced fares between all stations.
