ST. PAUL’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
ANNUAL PICNIC. St. Paul’s Sunday School picnic was held at Johnston Park on Saturday and was most successful. Greeted with fine weather the picnickers assembled early at the Church and through the kindness of members of the congregation were conveyed in motor-cars to tho park. These kindly disposed friends also motored the children homo in the evening, whilst another provided tho transport for all the picnic equipment. The morning was spent in games and swimming, the children working up a healthy appetite for the sumptuous mid-day meal prepared by the teachers with contributions supplied by the congregation. During the afternoon cricket, races, games and swimming occupied every moment, and tho younger children delighted in the new swings and slides now provided at Johnston
park. The girls’ school championship was won by Betty Maleolmson, and the boys’ championship by Avon Clifford, Mr. A. E. Matheson having generously donated a brooch and a medal for the respective championships. "During the afternoon a good number of parents and friends joined the picnickers, and young and old soon combined in the happiness of the outing. Tea time came all too soon for the youngsters, for Johnston Park again proved an ideal picnic ground. Hearty cheers were given by the children for thoir teachers and for ail who helped to make their day a happy one and a tired but thoroughly satisfied band of youngsters were transported home at 6 o’clock.
