HLUNEET.. SOCIETY'S.. GARDEN .PARTY. From Our Own Correspondent The annual meeting and garden party of the Rangiwahia Plunket Society was held on Tuesday afternoon at the residence of Mrs. A. Morgan. Mrs. B. H. H. Guthrie, secretary of the Mangaweka and sub branches of tho Society, presided. Those present were Mesdames, A. Morgan, R. J. Morgan, W. Boshier, W. E. Boshier, H. McGuinness, Melrose, W. Stent, G. Bose, G. Kroger, H. Fankhauser, D. Couper, A. Tompkins, and E. J. Bourke. Apologies were received from several members. Mrs. Guthrie gave a resume of the year’s work, and Miss Patrick’s visit to Mangaweka, and her talk on thte conference held at headquarters, Wellington, also the progress and support given to Phmket Societies in New Zealand and elsewhere. The local branch was also able to report progress during the past year. A better and more comfortable room was in use through the courtesy of the local hall committee.' Mrs. Guthrie suggested two local ladies be appointed to the committee at. Mangaweka. It was decided that Mrs. Morgan senr., and Mrs. G. Kreger be appointed. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to the hall committee, thanking them for the use of the room. A hearty vote of thanks was also accorded both Mrs. Morgan Senr., and Mrs. H. Fankhauser for hospitality extended to Nurse Gray and to have afternoon tea next sale day in aid of funds.
Mrs. J. Morgan was re-appointed secretarj". Afternoon tea was then dispensed, and Mrs. Morgan thanked for the pleasant and instructive afternoon spent.
M.U.1.0.0.P. The M.TJ.1.0.0.F. Dodge held the fortnightly meeting on Wednesday evening, N.G. Bro. Bogers presiding over an excellent attendance. •* Visitors were present from Palmerston North, Feilding, Apiti, and Mangaweka. Tho installation of officers was also held, Bro. M. L. Rogers, I.P. N.G., Sister G. Martin N.G., Bro. W. Carr V.G., and Bro. P. Robinson, elective secretary, being promoted. At the conclusion of tie meeting, a dance was held and a dainty supper dispensed of. School Picnic. The Main South road school held the annual picnic on Friday, and the / weather being fine enabled everybody to enjoy himself. M. T. Bielski, chairman, presented the prizes. Winners of events were: Egg and spoon, Miss W. Boucher 1, Miss E. Deihl 2; hop, step, and jump, E. Bourke 1, M. Lockyer 2; young men’s cottonwinding, A. Bielski 1, M. Lockyer 2 W. Wilton special for neatness; chain-stepping, Mrs. Simmons 1, Mrs. McDonald 2; young ladies’, Miss A. Boshier 1, E. Deihl 2; young ladies’ race, Miss D. Hyde 1, Miss A. Boshier 2; married ladies’ Tace, Mrs. Hyde 1; men’s chain-stepping, W. Wilton 1; Men’s face, M. Lockyer 1, E. Bourke 2; girls’ race, G. Bielski 1, D. Hyde 2; girls’ over 12, M. Bourke 1, Gladys Bielski 2; girls under 12, D. Bielski 1, Q. Hyde 2; boy’s over 12, E. Bielski 1, M. Thompson 2; boys under 12, L. Bielski 1, L. Thompson 2; boys under 10, A. McDonald 1, I. Thompson 2; boys’ race, R. Bourke 1, W. Hyde 2.
