SUNDAY EXCURSION FROM WELLINGTON DECIDED SUCCESS
OVER 700 VISITORS TO P.N. YESTERDAY. Yesterday tho Railway Department ran the first of a series of Sunday excursions from Wellington and intermediate stations to Palmerston North. Tho excursion and the cheap fares must have been well advertised in the capital city because before tho train sot out on its journey, it had to be considerably enlarged and the supply of tickets printed was quite insufficient for the demand. The train of two big engines and IS cars carrying over 700 people arrived in Palmerston North shortly before one o'clock and the departure on the return journey was made at 4.25 p.in., the train being scheduled to reach Wellington at 7.56 p.m. The train, if present intentions aro carried out, will run every Sunday and being timed almost to express schedule, it should prove popular. All the visitors seemed quite pleased with tho Department's arrangements, the only complaint voiced being that Palmerston North tea-rooms and lounges were unprepared for such a Sunday invasion, and in some places, eatables were in short supply.
