AMATEUR ATHLETICS

FINAL MEETING. The final evening meeting for this season -was conducted by the Feilding Amateur Athletic club on Kowhai park on Wednesday. Competitors from the Kia Toa club added to tho attraction of the sports and a large crowd of spectators attended. Tho following were the results of the ovents:— Long jump: C. Pearscj 22ft Sin, 1; W. Cochrane, 20ft 3in, 2; J. Turnbull, 10ft 9in, 3. Hop, step and jump: W. Cochrane, 42ft Sin, 1; C. Pcarse, 42ft Sin, 2$ A. Pearse, 40ft Gin, 3. Three-quarter mile handicap: J. Turnbull 3, L. Cowling 2, W. Cochrane 3. 84 mile cycle race:* R. Littlejohn 1, R. Hurst 2, D. Bowater 3. Hurst takes Mr. A. E. Mathcson’s medal for fastest time. 440 yards boys’ race: A. Davis 1, R. Mureh 2. Club Championships. Scotncy Cup (running): The following are the points for the Scotney Cup for all running events conducted by the Feilding Amateur Athletic club: —C. Fcarse 42, AV. Coc'krano 32, K. Wells 20, C. Kerridge 17, T. Humphrey 12, D. Salter 10, A. Kitchen 7, T. Kelly and O. Scotncy 2. Smithcrs’ Cup (cycling): The following are the results of the competition for the Smithers Challenge Cup. donated by President Smithers for all cycling events conducted ,by the club.: R. Hurst 20, R. Littlejohn 18, W. Pedley 14, L. Trass, R-. Sowerby 6, D. Bov/ater 2.
