“LET THEM HATE, AS LONG AS THEY FEAR”

Fascist Rule in Italy POPULAR ACQUIESCENCE IS MORALLY VALUELESS KINGDOM OF SWORDS. United Press Association —By Eleetrii Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, 9.10 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 21.

The Daily News Rome correspondent states that the Fascist autocracy is more firmly established and more disliked than at any* time since the famous march on Romo.

The chief source of its strength, the Blackshirt militia, has reached a high pitch of efficiency. Its 25,000 officers and 300,000 men efficiently ensures the safety of Fascism. Italy has no alternative but to acquiesce, yet except from professional Fascists, this acquiescence is reluctant and morally valueless. ,

The people resent the constant pressure to make them live iu accordance with Fascist principles. The muzzling of the Press is the biggest blunder tbe regime hns made, because there is now a 'universal disbelief in Italy of anything Fascist. The people feel that Fascism has not delivered the goods; that desppotism in the twentieth century has not proved practicable. However, it is clcai the Duco will remain Italy’s unchallenged master as long as he desires.
