Picturesquely situated on the banks of the Oroua river within a few moments walk of Feliding this makes an ideal picnic ground and is accordingly well patronised. The swings and toboggan there proved a source of much entertainment to the young folk while the river enticed both children and adults again and again into its cooling depths during tho day a number of races were run on the football ground the results of which are as follows: Girls, over 11: Ngaire Jefferies 1, Molly Miles 2, Elaine Bailey 3. Progress of Tennis Court. A working bee comprising Messrs C. and E. Christian, A. Callingham, N. Anderson and T. Bailey spent a long day on Thursday last at the court during which time the grading was completed and other necessary work done. Leonard and Leslie Cockburn also rendered Mr Saywell some valuable assistance the two previous days without which he would not have been able to proceed. Monday morning saw Messrs J. and D. Humphrey, N. Jefferies and T. Bailey at Oncpuhi busily engaged with Mr Saywell screening fine pecbles for completing the surface, Mr Monk of Haleombe doing tho carting. Following its arrival back at Stanway the ■working beo finished its arduous day by giving the court a thoroughly good rolling down with a particularly largo and heavy roller. Personal. The many friends of Mrs David Younger, of Cinder Hill, will be very pleased to hear she has so far recovered from her illness that she expects to return home from a private hospital, Peikling, at the end of this week.
Mr and Mrs Walter Jefferies of Wadtuna are at present on a motor tour. Should the weather hold fine they will be away several weeks during which time they will visit Napier, Taupo and other places of interest. Mr Jefferies hopes to do a good deal of fishing during his holiday and much camping will be done during the trip.
