KIA TOA CLUB MEETING. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Kia Toa A A. and C. Club was held last evening at the Sportsground and was well patronised by the public. H. McDonald (Kia Toa club's champion miler, made his final appearance before competing at Wellington on Saturday in the New Zealand championships. The events wero well contested and a new innovation was introduced by this club in making the 2 mile cycle a sealed lap event thereby speeding up the race. The officials were:— Starter, Mr F. Aisker; judges, Messrs Bourke, Weston and Randell; handicappers, (cycling) Mr. J. Cooksley, (running) Mr M. Strange. Results were as follows: 100yds handicap: M. Strange (3yds) 1, A. Weston (s}) 2, H. Piercey (3) 3. 10 starters. BSoyds handicap: L. Cowling (35yds) 1, H. McDonald (10yds) 2, J. Turnbull (55) 3. 7 starters. Junior 100yds: Sturmcr 1, C. Boyce 2, D. Boyce 3. 5 starters. Schoolboys 440yds walk: W. Allen (College St.). 20 starters. Mile cycle handicap: G. Cooksley (35yds) 1, O. Prouse (80) 2, N. Dixon (80) 3. 8 starters. 2 mile (3 sealed handicap): 2nd lap, O Prouse, sth lap O Prouse, 9th lap G. Cooksley and winner. 12 starters. Long jump handicap: M. Griffcn (18ft 2ins) 1, Totley (17ft Bins) and A. Weston (17ft Bins) tie for 2nd place.

MANAWATU CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING.

The attention of readers is drawn to an advertisement appearing in another column of the Manawatu Athletic Club’s annual meeting, entries having been received from Hawcra, Ilutf,, Wellington, Wanganui, Gisborne, Wairou, Napier, Masterton and other pla;es all over the North Island. An enjoyable afternoon’s sport is assured. Additional interest is added to the meeting by the appearance of Miss Norma Wilson and Stan Lay; two of New Zealand’s representatives at tho 1928 Olympiad. In addition, Miss Wilson will,meet Miss Stewart (Wairoa) in a special challenge race. These two ladies will later in the afternoon he called upon to test their merits against' Miss Margaret Barron, the star member of the local club, in tho ladies’ invitation race.
