Another disorderly’sccne occurred at the peace in industry conference today. . ~ A noisy mob of hostile women, tfio wives of timber workers who came from another meeting, rushed the City town haU, overpowering the attendants. They ascended the gallery stairs, shouted and sen “Solidarity For Ever” at the delegates assembled bolow. Tho police were summoned and ordered all outside.
The Premier, Mr. T. R. Bavin, returned to Sydney to-day from Canberra, where he discussed the coal position with Mr. S. M. Bruce, who agreed to renew the Commonwealth offer of a bounty of one shilling a ton on all coal exported from Now South Wales. Mr Bavin added that the State government’s original offer of a reduction in rail freights on coal still stood. This with tho employees’ reduction of one shilling in wages, should enable the employers further to reduce the price of coal four or five shillings a ton and the industry should soon be rehabilitated.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that tho offer would bo accepted promptly.
