' The abdication of the Afghan King, Inayatullah, is confirmed and the rebel chief, Bacchasako, has been acclaimed King in Kabul. He has assumed the title of Habibullah Ghazi.

With a force of 15,000 well-equipped men, he entered the capital on Thursday and Inayatullah and his family, who had been in the citadol, .sought refuge in the British legation. Two Yikcrs-Victoria troop-carrying planes left Peshwar at dawn yesterday and returned in the afternoon, carrying Inayatullah, his war minister, Sirdai Abdul Aziz, other officials and lady refugees. They will later proceed to Kandahar, where Amanullah resides. Habibullah’s rule is confined to Kabid and suburbs. Ho is a water carrier's son of a Mohomand tribe. He was formerly a soldier in tho Afghan army and once, when going on leave, ho was waylaid by robbers. He killed two and was subsequently punished, this making him a bitter enemy of Amanidlah. He has assumed the title of Habibullah Ghazi to indicate that lie has risen to tho position now occupied by Komnl Pasha in Turkey. This is the second time in Afghan history that a water carrier’s son has become King, tho first being in the reign of the Emperor Humayun. Amanullah ordored tfce Governor of Kandahar to haul down tho Royal Standard, as he was no longer King. Amanullah has a force of 30,000 with the support of the greator part of Afghanistan, while Habibullah only holds tho hilly provinces in the vicinity of Kabul.
